With two matches this weekend it was another chance for every player to feature over the two games. Our second game of the weekend was against Ramsbury and we were keen to try and repeat the performance put in yesterday against Pewsey Vale.
Ramsbury kicked off and straight away ESC pressurised them forcing a few early chances and it was Joe who managed to score our first goal with a neat finish. A few more chances followed but we didn’t seem to have our shooting boots on and the first half finished 1-0.
In the second half we needed to try and keep our shape a bit better as this was probably what was stopping us from passing the ball as well as we knew we could. A number of times in the first half there wasn’t enough support for the passes to be made.

Into the second half and we started brightly with Jack P and Regan coming close, but it was Connor who scored our second goal, latching onto a well taken corner from Regan to hit a sweet half volley from the edge of the area which gave the Ramsbury keeper no chance. Then Regan made it 3-0 after hitting a rasping shot from a narrow angle and Jack P completed the scoring with a well taken, late hat-trick.
Good score line today, but I keep stressing it’s more about the performance than the result at this age and today we didn’t play to our full capability. Nobody could be faulted for effort but I was a little disappointed that we couldn’t keep our shape as this is something we normally do quite well. Hopefully this is down to the fact that some of today’s players haven’t played for a few weeks, but it certainly gives us something to work on before the next match. Henry and Ryan both did everything which was asked of them in goal and also played well outfield. Seamus had another strong game playing in defence and midfield whilst Jack W put in some great tackles. Joe got into some fantastic positions today making himself available to receive the ball every time we were in possession. Regan and Jack both covered every blade of grass on the pitch and were both rewarded with good goals and Connor scored the goal of the day with a very good strike.
