Swindon Rangers 4 - 5 Elite Soccer Coaching
2nd Nov 2008 - Friendly

This was a friendly match arranged due to the halfterm holidays to keep Elite focussed maintaining there form.

With a few players out the squad was reduced to the bare minimum which later became a small issue to overcome.

The match started with Elite slow out of the blocks as usual and SR showed great determination to take an early lead opening up the defence very easily with some good passing resulting in the opener. SR 1 – 0 ESC

Unfortunately very early on Nick had to come off injured and this resulted in Elite only having one substitute for the rest of the half.

The pressure was all on Elite and it took some good passing from Ash to Olli O’Shea to send him on his way and to get his name back on the scoresheet. SR 1 – 1 ESC

Buoyed by the equaliser Elite began playing some good link up play which resulted in Ash have a shot from distance which was deflected past the diving keeper to take the lead. SR 1 – 2 ESC

SR battled back hard and gave Elite some running around to do but managed to make another quick break down the left wing was resulted in well taken goal. SR 2 – 2 ESC

Just before halftime a small mistake by Josh let SR back in and they again took the lead. At this point another set back was to hit as Josh had to go off with his recurring toe injury.

Halftime came and with Euan already committed to leaving at halftime Elite were struggling and had to play the second half with one less player against a strong side.

This required “superman” levels of commitment from everyone on pitch. To everyones surprise it was Elite who came out fighting and took the game to SR with Ash and Olli O’Shea playing some nice 1-2’s up the pitch Ash’s goal bound shot was neatly “poached” by the striker, Olli O’Shea for an easy tap in. SR 3 – 3 ESC.

Elite seemed to find some extra energy and closed down SR at every opportunity not allowing them to settle into routine. With Harry battling away to keep the ball he had a shot at goal which beat everyone only for Ash to add the finishing touch for another tap in. SR 3 – 4 ESC

It wasn’t all one way traffic as SR made use of the extra man managed to get back on equal terms with an equaliser, SR 4 – 4 ESC.

With Joe encouraging the boys James started a good, strong run down the left wing beating a couple of players before laying off the ball to Olli who never looked like missing and gave Elite the winner

. It was a hard game on a very cold morning but the boys battled hard against a decent team despite being one player short for half the match. If the boys maintain that kind of spirit for the rest of the season they will do well.
