Saturdays match v Ferndale/Rodbourne was the second time that we had played them this season, when we played them back in the summer we lost 8-0.
We started Saturdays match very brightly and had Ferndale on the back foot for long periods of the game, the defence was marshalled superbly by Joe Blankley and striker Harry Woodfield was attacking at every opportunity.
I was very pleased with the general team shape and the application of the team, Ferndale only had one shot in the first half which unfortunately squirmed under ASC`s Ollie Baycroft for Ferndale to lead going into the break.
In the second half substitutes were made and we lost our shape and performance, we have to remember that these boys are still very young and have only been together as a team for 2 months, Ferndale cranked up the pressure and began to find the net and we seemed to run out of ideas.
The Ferndale manager complimented me afterwards that the boys have really changed for the better since the first game with them. The boys now know that the first half performance is what is expected from them and im sure we will build on it.
