Today’s fixture was against Highworth Town’s ‘B’ team which was virtually the same group of players we played in our first ever friendly match, a couple of months ago, at which time we did ok, but struggled to seriously compete. So to face roughly the same team again was always going to give us a good indication of whether or not we’ve progressed. The answer to that question is that we clearly have moved on and now look a completely different team. Our players are definitely holding their shape a lot better and are now also starting to get a better understanding of the game and a greater appreciation of space and passing.
These are still early days and there is a lot of hard work and learning ahead of these players, but it’s great to see that we’re all hopefully heading in the right direction. This is only made possible through the players working and concentrating hard in training, which is something they are now starting to do.
