What should have been a relatively straightforward game turned out to be Elites most difficult so far this season.
The game started at high pace with Elite having the early chances which were put wide of the goal. But it was all one way traffic, WJFC also had an early shot on goal which Charlie saved.
Unfortunately Elite were caught out on the attack and left a huge gap at the back which WJFC exploited and scored to take the lead. ESC 0 - 1 WJFC
Elite were a little taken back by this and some heads dropped.
Although ESC attacked the WJFC goal several times the goalkeeper managed to make some fantastic saves to keep them in the game.
The pressure kept building until eventually Kezza passed to Ash in the middle and with a little jinking run Ash scored the equaliser. ESC 1 - 1 WJFC
Still the game was wide open with chances occuring at both ends the halftime result remained ESC 1 - 1 WJFC.
The second half saw the game descend into end-to-end football with neither team making the most of their chances. The Wroughton defence was proving tough to break down and the goalie kept making decisive saves to keep the score level.
After a scrappy bout of play Euan latched onto the ball outside the box and cooly slotted the ball into the left corner for Elite to take the lead for the first time in the game. ESC 2 - 1 WJFC
This didnt last long as WJFC kept battling hard and were first to the ball nearly every time. Despite being in the lead ESC didnt look like they deserved to be ahead and again were caught out at the back enabling the WJFC attacker to equalise. ESC 2 - 2 WJFC
Eventually ESC found their passing boots and kept up the pressure, the closest effort being Ash hitting the keeper, but it wasnt to be and score remained ESC 2 - 2 WJFC.
A good result for Wroughton who battled harder than Elite to get to the ball first and could have taken all three points but for their lack of firepower up front. A poor performance from Elite who were really off their game today. There was a lack of width, communication and hunger to get the win.
