We travelled over to Shrivenham today to play Shrivenham & Watchfield, who are a good side who play good football and I remember saying the last time we played them that it was a very entertaining end to end match. So I was hoping both teams could put on a repeat of that match again today.
The first 5 minutes of the match seemed to be a bit cagey with neither team really creating chances, but then the game got what it needed, a goal, but unfortunately for us it went to S&W who scored from a corner after we failed to mark tightly. However Jack P put us back on level terms, collecting the ball from the GK’s clearance and rifling his shot into the back of the net. Then S&W struck again, before Jack again equalised to make it 2-2. Jack nearly completed his hat-trick minutes later with a storming run down the left and a good shot which was saved by the keeper. But then Jack did complete his hat-trick latching onto a good corner in from Regan and he then got his fourth, picking the ball up on half way and making another strong run before dispatching his shot well.
Half Time: Shrivenham & Watchfield 2 - ESC 4
So into the second half and it was Ryan who scored next with a good low strike before Alex rounded things off after S&W failed to clear Regan’s corner and Jack’s shot fell to Alex who buried his chance well.
A good solid performance today, with every player putting in a lot of hard work. Michael and Ryan again did a great job in goal and on the pitch and Seamus was again very steady at the back not only in the way he defended but also in the coolness he showed when in possession of the ball. Ben, Regan and Alex showed good strength and some nice touches in midfield and again Jack looked powerful upfront. But a special mention today goes to Henry who played his best game by far for us today and was a constant menace for the opposition with a terrier like performance.
