An afternoon Kick Off saw ASC Youth U7s take on Liden U7s at Broad Town both teams were eager to play after a half term break.

Liden started the more positive as ASC struggled to settle into any rhythm a problem that we have had all season, before we knew it ASC were 2-0 down despite Ollie Baycroft making some superb saves.

Just before half time a long pass forward found Flynn Day in the penalty box and after a blocked shot the ball found the back of the net 2-1 to Liden After a stearn talking to at half time ASC came out with more purpose in the second half and were unlucky to let another goal in making it 3-1 to Liden, Lukas Reay in the heart of the ASC defence was now finding his feet and making some fierce tackles as Joe Blankley started pushing forward making some great passes.

ASC scored again after Midfielder Joe Saunders broke away and stuck an unstoppable shot past the Liden keeper, his first goal of the season. The match became end to end with tackles flying in, Liden scored twice to take it to 5-2, but ASC werent beaten as MOM Joe Blankley stuck a left foot shot past a despairing Liden keeper 5-3

Then there was the move of the match ASCs Joe B starting on the left wing dribbled past a Liden player looked up and sent a pin point cross into striker Harry Woodfield who swept the ball into the net 5-4, a grandstand finish ensued, with 30 seconds left on the clock the impressive Joe B broke through the Liden defence struck the ball, the supporters were waiting for the net to bulge and the ball brushed past the post!!! A draw would of been a fair result.

Well done for the second half effort, but the boys must settle from the start, it was good to see a lot of goals scored and to see their smiling faces.

Thanks again to Liden, their coaches, players and parents for an excellent atmosphere, we look forward to the return leg.
