Our first away game of the season on a cold and wet morning we produced possible our best performance this season, against a good side with both teams working hard for the whole match. Everyone should be proud of their performance; it was a real team effort today with everyone contributing to a very enjoyable game to watch.
The match probably started better for the Robins if I was being honest although there was never much in it at any stage of the game, and it wasn’t unfair for them to take the lead with a good passage of play early in the second half. However it was still frustrating for us having worked hard to keep them out, the signs were there throughout the match that they were capable of breaking through our defences.
Great credit to the lads, their heads didn’t drop and if anything they raised their game. As the second half progressed more and more chances fell to our lads. Annoyingly when a great opportunity did arrive, after some great build up play, we managed to miss the shooting chance when two players went for the ball at the same time and the chance disappeared.
A few minutes later we did get the goal we deserved after continued team play and a great through ball for Cameron to finish calmly. The game ended with us finishing arguable the stronger side.
A special mention to Ben Evans for his best performance in an ASC shirt, even the ref said he was Man-of-Match.
Thanks to Robins for a hugely enjoyable game played in the right spirit, and I think a fair result. Looking forward to welcoming them next year at our place, hopefully it will be slightly warmer.
