Elite Soccer Coaching 6 - 3 Blunsdon Colts
12th Oct 2008 - Cup 2nd Round

This was a real cup match and a game of two halves.

Elite started well with a couple of shots wide of the post and a couple of corners which didnt result in any goals. Although Blunsdon came back strong with some physical challenges and made Elite work hard.

All this pressure resulted in Blunsdon taking the advantage and scoring first. ESC 0 - 1 BC

The action switched to the Elite half and if it wasnt for Sam rushing out of goal Blunsdon would have scored on their next attack. Another Blunsdon attack again ended in a goal as Elite were caught out and didnt get back to defend. ESC 0 - 2 BC

Elite were on the backfoot and made a couple of chances which fell to Ash but these went wide. Another quick break by Blunsdon ended in a well taken goal to leave Elite trailing .. ESC 0 - 3 BC

Elite had never been this far behind in a match and come back so this was a really big ask. The boys tried to get something out of the game and early chances kept going wide until Kezza picked up the ball made a pass to Oli who finished to give Elite a chance as a the half finished. ESC 1 - 3 BC

Blunsdon had put Elite under a lot of pressure and the physical nature meant that they couldnt play their normal game.

The start of the second half saw some changes in the team, but again Sam came to the rescue spoiling another Blunsdon attack.

Elite were awarded a free kick quite a way out and Razor stepped up to put a fizzing cross into the box which the Blunsdon defender headed into his own net. ESC 2 - 3 BC

Elite kept up the pressure and another free kcik courtesy of the aggressive nature of Blunsdons tackling gave Razor an opportunity to repeat his earlier effort, this shot needed no help as it hit the top left of the goal for the equaliser. ESC 3 - 3 BC

Blunsdon were reeling from this turn around and were hit quickly by Sean putting a good through ball into Euan who banged home his first for and put Elite into the lead. ESC 4 - 3 BC

Blunsdon were beginning to feel the pressure both on and off the pitch and Elite were now firing on all cylinders and there was more pace and fire in the tackling.

Euan stepped up the pace and began making some useful runs down the wings and managed to slot home a second and before long completed his hattrick with a well taken left foot shot to leave Elite 6 - 3 BC winners.

At half time Elite looked out of the cup before a surprise turnaround saw them put in 5 goals in the second half to progress to the next stage. Well done lads you certainly gave the parents a few heart attacks along the way.
