The first home match of the season for ASC Youth Under 10s against Lydiard Youth A was likely to be an exciting match given that the boys had faced this team 3 times last season with the last meet being the play-off that decided the league winners and runners up.

The game started with Ash passing the ball through to Oli who’s shot went just over the bar. ASC continued to have a lot of the attacking play with shots going just wide or being saved.

ASC earned a corner which James and Euan took following some training the day before and passing on to Tyler, who took a shot which the goalie just tipped over the bar. Another corner from Tyler on the right was converted by Ash. Score ASC 1 – Lydiard 0.

Tyler crossed a lovely low ball to Euan who took a shot which just went over the bar. Following the goal kick, Euan passed the ball to Ash who hit the keeper. The boys were unlucky with several shots until Tyler managed to put one in the net. Score ASC 2 – Lydiard 0.

Suddenly Lydiard were rushing the ball down the pitch but Razer took perfect command of his area and booted it out of harm’s way.

Lydiard then had another run down the pitch and had a shot. Unfortunately, a superb goal. Score ASC 2 – Lydiard 1.

Half Time

Following the half time break ASC were very much in control of the game with lots of attempts on goal. Then James had a scorching shot that hit the back of the net. Score ASC 3– Lydiard 1.

It looked as if things couldn’t get any worse for Lydiard when Tyler took a short throw in to Kezza who weaved into the box, had a shot and scored. Score ASC 4 – Lydiard 1.

With lots of strong defending from Rhys and James and plenty of attacking play, four more goals were to be conceded by a dispirited Lydiard team; the next from Kezza, one from Ash, a shot from Euan and then the last from Ash.

In summary, a great team performance. When the boys passed the ball well Lydiard struggled to cope with them.

Final Score ASC 8 – Lydiard 1.
