Swindon Robins 0 - 8 ASC Youth

ASC Youth U13’s kicked off the season with an encouraging 8-0 victory over Swindon Robins. As we started our season a week later than everyone else, it was important that we got off to a good start and got three points on the board from our first game.

From the kick off, ASC pressured and were soon rewarded with an early goal. It came courtesy of a player who doesn’t normally score too many goals for us, Joe Pettit. But having gone up for the corner he made sure he was in the right place at the right time to prod the ball home after the Robins keeper couldn’t hold onto a well delivered corner from Aaron. Aaron then turned from provider to goal scorer when he connected with Josh’s cross to make it 2-0.

ASC now seemed to be threatening every time they got the ball and Kezza found himself on the score sheet 4 times in the space of 20 minutes. His first was a well taken header; his second was slotted home after good work by Ed and Perry, his third was a real poachers goal as he followed in Ed’s shot and his fourth followed a great pass from Ciaran which he picked up on the half way line before sprinting away from 2 defenders to coolly slot past the advancing keeper.

Then in the last ten minutes we scored twice more with a well taken volley from Josh and a 25 yard low driven strike from Perry. There were a number of good displays today, but in particular I thought Louis was excellent in the centre of midfield, whilst Danny also put in another flawless display and Ciaran looked very comfortable deputising for the injured Curtis.

This was a great way to open our account, but I didn’t think we were firing on all cylinders today and I still think there is a lot more to come from this team over the coming months.
