An afternoon Kick Off saw ASC U7s host Stratton Juniors at Broad Town, after last weeks mauling by Shrivenham ASC were looking to get back to normal service the signs were not good from the start, after less than a minute on the clock Stratton burst through a static ASC defence to make it 1-0 and after 4 minutes ASC were 3-0 down, poor Joe who had volunteered in goal after Ollies exit to Rugby must have wondered what he had let himself in for.
Anyway an injury to Andrew Evans in defence saw Blake Batson come on and move into defence and the ASC team seemed to change, we made it to half time at 3-0 down.
After a good chat at half time with Andy Day and myself the ASC team went on fired up and it was a different game, Joe S slipped into CMidfield and Harry W went in goal, I dont think ive ever seen such a difference in a team in 2 halves, Flynn Day who normally shirks challenges was like a tiger battling and putting through great passes, Lukas and Blake at the back were strong and determined not letting any Stratton attacks through, in fact Harry looked bored in the ASC goal as he had hardly anything to do, Joe B up front was so unlucky not to score and on another day could of had 3 or 4, keep your head up Joe, Goalscorers for ASC were Harry W an Own Goal and a great finish by Joe S, liked the celebration Joe!! Andrew Evans came back on late in the second half and looked a different player diving into tackles, he certainly forgot the injury.
The game finished 6-3 to Stratton but the result is academic as the performance is the most important aspect, the boys have got to realise if we play like the second half we will go from strength to strength, I was very proud of the boys, Thanks to Andy Day for assisting and Lily for handing out bibs!! Thanks to Paul Surridge and Stratton Juniors, you have got a great group of parents and players and thanks to all my parents, I think we needed that display.
