Mothering Sunday saw ASC U7s travel to Robins for a morning kick off, We were expecting a tough game as Robins have a very good reputation of playing good football and we were not disapointed.

ASC started the game very brightly with Joe B and Harry having several attacks on goal with Flynn supplying some great passes, we were very surprised how well we were getting into the game, after 10 mins Robins first attack was mounted and they sliced through the static ASC defence at ease leaving keeper Joe S no chance, unfortunately this happened twice more as the normally dependable ASC defenders Lukas and Blake were having an off day, we later found that Blakes feet were covered in blisters due to new boots but he battled on in silence bravely.

After a stern talking to at half time ASC came out all guns blazing with midfielder James Moody covering every blade of grass, passing, tackling and behind all of ASCs good work, a rejuvenated Lukas started the only ASC goal with a lovely chip forward finding Harry in space who passed out wide to Joe B who despatched an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. ASC were on top with ASC keeper Joe S making great saves and starting attacks with his great kicks, Subs Spikey and Charlie came on in the second period and worked hard but found it difficult on a large pitch, Charlie in only his 2nd game for the club will improve when he gets match fit, The game finished with the customary penalty shoot-out.

Kind words from Robins coaches Tony and Paul saying how ASC caused Robins trouble and that Joe S was the best keeper they had seen, nice to hear.

Thanks go to the Robins coaches/players and parents for a good,fair game and to all the ASC parents and players for their commitment and support and thanks to assistant Mark for putting up with me!!!

A weekend off will see us back in action on 28th March at Stratton
