Elite Soccer Coaching 4 - 3 Croft
14th Dec 2008

Two games were again arranged this weekend in order for all our players to get match time. As every child is currently developing at different rates, doing this allows us to see what level each player is at, so we can try to help each one with the things they need to work on, whilst playing them at the level we think they are comfortable playing in at the moment.

So our first match was against Croft who play in the North Division and as always it’s good to play against teams who we haven’t played before, so our players can gain experience of playing against different styles and different players, which will help with their development.

After a tight first 15 minutes it was Elite who broke the deadlock through Jack P after he collected a good ball from Regan to run clear and beat the keeper. Then 5 mins into the second half Jack was on the score sheet again with a similar strike. Regan was unlucky minutes later after he released a rasping shot from outside the area which went just wide of the post. But then Croft came back into it with 2 quick goals, the first after a good exchange of passing and the second after a strong run from their striker. However some timely tackling by Seamus and Harry prevented Croft from taking the lead before the game swayed back Elite’s way once again with Jack scoring twice more, a powerful run from deep for his hat trick and then a lovely chip over the keeper for his and Elite’s fourth. This should have been the last action of the game. But slack marking from a corner allowed Croft in to score once more just before the end of the match.

Ryan made a number of good saves today and his distribution of the ball was excellent. Seamus and Harry were solid again at the back and also distributed the ball very well. In midfield Regan had one of his quieter games today but still looked a class act when he got the ball and Joe, Ben and Alex caused the opposition problems and put in some good tackles and up front Jack definitely had his shooting boots on yet again with 4 good finishes.

Final score: ESCFC 4 v Croft 3
