Today’s encounter was against Hungerford Town and we were looking to build on the good performances we’ve had of late. The players we’re encouraged before the match to show us today how much they’ve learned so far over the season and were asked to relax on the ball and try to pass and move.
From the kick off ESC settled well and straight away they were taking time on the ball and picking out some good passes. Henry was at the heart of the midfield in the first half and a lot of the good passing came through him.
Harry and Seamus also played some great football from the back and were available every time Michael had the ball. Michael’s distribution was excellent today and his handling was very assured.
There were a few early chances for both teams before ESC broke the deadlock with a long strike from Joe who was finding lots of space out wide. On the other flank Georgia was also trying to play the balls into the right areas and got through a lot of work. Jack Waugh’s tough tackling helped to strengthen the midfield towards the latter part of the first half which broke up Hungerford’s possession on a number of occasions and Connor held his position well this week.

Into the second half and it was Jack P who saw a number of chances come his way but unfortunately he didn’t seem to have his shooting boots on today. But all credit to him as he, like the rest of the team, kept battling away and he was soon rewarded with ESC’s second goal when the ball fell to him in the box.
Today’s display was very pleasing for Craig and Myself, as especially in the first half, the passing and movement was as good as in any game so far this season and with Regan, Alex, Ben and Ryan all rested today, we know we now have a squad who are all capable of playing good football.
