Elite Soccer Coaching 2 - 1 Wootton Bassett
15th Mar 2009

A much anticipated meeting between two sides who, upto today, were unbeaten in the league.

Elite started cautiously and the game was very scrappy. Fluent football wasnt going to be the order of the day here but a hard fought battle in midfield was in  prospect.

Oli Sinclair picked up the ball running towards the defence and was barged off the ball, the ref almost blowing up, but he still managed to pass to Oli O'Shea whose shot was parried over the bar.
Elite had some chances with a couple of corners and another Oli O'Shea shot being saved.

Unfortunately WBA were the first to score with there first real attack at the Elite goal an unchallenged run saw the attacker shot towards goal. Razor was unlucky not to save the shot as he was unbalanced and probably thought the shot was going to be harder. ESC 0 - 1 WBA

Despite the pressure Elite didnt drop their heads and tried to play themselves out of trouble. A long kick upfield by Razor was picked up by Oli O'Shea who ran towards goal with Euan and Gareth alongside for company and after passing three defenders cooly passed it beyond the keeper. ESC 1 - 1 WBA at halftime

Tensions were running high and the second half started with some hard tackles coming in.
James had a shot from distance defelcted towards the goal but this was cleared up as was Ash's shot from the wing.
The game became more scrappy as neither team could force their way through the defence. Elites defence of Josh and James performed brilliantly stopping the WBA attacks from posing any threat.

At the other end a freekick was awarded to Elite when two players converged on Sean without getting the ball. A short discussion took place on whether James or Ash should take it and this time James had the honour of lofting a great kick over everyones heads and into the goal..the crowd went mildly ballistic!!!  ESC 2 - 1 WBA

The game then became frustrating for WBA as they couldnt get near the goal and were panicking into hoofing the ball away from their area. All the players were feeling the pressure and the game became more and more disjointed as neither team could get the ball near the net.

All in all a good result despite the lack of any flowing football, WBA were frustrated by Elites tough response and excellent finishing ability. Elite deserved the win today and have scored a major psychological advantage over WBA when they next meet in the Cup Final.

Also of note Elite are still unbeaten in the league.

Well Done lads!!!
