Early start this week away at Lydiard Youth on a fine sunny autumn morning, due to players being away we were reduced to a squad of 7 players, minus Ollie our regular goalie and Lukas our defender. Harry started in goal and didnt have a lot to do in the first half, ASC started very brightly and attacked at will, we were just short of that killer pass, Flynn who had another great game had 3 or 4 shots cleared one of which rolled agonisingly towards the goal line and was cleared.
Lydiard had a break away and scored with their first attack, ASC didnt fold and kept attacking with the trio of Ewan, Joseph B and Flynn working very hard. In the 2nd half Harry swapped with Ewan in goal and put in a great effort, Lydiard stepped up in the 2nd half and scored a couple of quick goals which were down to ASC not defending as they should.
Harry was now finding his feet on the pitch and was charging through at every opportunity and scored a great goal from a tight angle, a Joe B free kick was just saved from the Lydiard keeper but Joe got his goal after a mistake by Lydiard, Joe shot into an empty net, the game was end to end and was played in a really good atmosphere, James Moody in defence was marshalling the team superbly, Andrew and Oscar had their best games. The best goal was saved for last as a quick free kick by ASC`s Joe went out to Flynn on the wing a perfectly weighted ball went straight to top scorer Harry who made no mistake.
The game finished 5-3 to Lydiard Youth, if a few passes were made today we could of won this fixture, the team are getting better every game, im looking forward to the return game.
Thanks again to all parents from both sides and to Dennis the Lydiard manager who for me will make a great coach, its great to hear an opposition coach cheering on your team, thats how football should be.
