Our first visit to Wanborough in what was our penultimate league game. The best way to sum it up was awesome. I was very proud today for several reasons. One of them being we really played a great passing game. The players with their head up looking for someone in space before kicking the ball, makes such a big difference, with people in space ready and wanting the ball. This point is highlighted by the fact that our players did not get in each other’s way on any occasion.

I would like to think that it was all down to the coaching session the previous day, so I will.

Seriously, we did speak before the game about importance of keeping our shape and position and it’s great to see everyone trying so hard and listening when, at times, the eagerness to get the ball got the better of them.

The match itself started well and our pressure paid off with the opener from Alex, with a good first touch and finish after good work from Ben on the left. Ben, after another from Alex, got two goals himself with cool finishes. Half time came with everyone having played a big part in being in front.

More words of encouragement at half time and change of goalkeeper (Connor for Ryan).

Ben completed a good hat-trick after more good passing and build up play. Then Joe got in on the action with two goals and two good strikes. A slight change in position followed for everyone at this stage but with no change in effort and desire, Alex getting another two and Ryan completing the scoring with deft flick.

I feel a need to praise everyone today so I will, also mention the great skill by Connor to bamboozle their striker, some good tackles and solid in goal, Georgia for some very important touches, passing and good tackling. Ryan, running the length of the pitch and almost scoring, good all-round goalkeeping. Henry for the brilliant defensive work and distribution.

Over-all a great TEAM effort and performance, they should all feel very proud and happy.
