Fine weather and a perfect pitch greeted us this morning for the first time in a long while and it was going to be interesting to see how we’d play after our recent spell of no football. I feared the team would have struggled to recapture the form they were showing before Xmas but this wasn’t to be the case.

The match kicked off and for the first 10 minutes it was pretty much even with both teams having a few early chances. However it was Pewsey who broke the deadlock with some neat passing creating a chance which was clinically dispatched. But then ESC started to get on top and soon equalised after Regan finished off a well worked short corner.

Then Jack nearly set up another goal with a great run down the left beating 2 players before crossing the ball for Ben whose shot went narrowly wide of the post. Jack also saw an effort go wide after a fine pass from Alex put the striker through, whilst at the other end good defending from Michael, Seamus and Harry kept Pewsey at bay.

At half time we asked the players to find more space to allow us to get our passing game going and straight away this happened and it was soon 2-1 when Georgia won the ball and passed to Jack who beat 2 players before hitting the net. Then Jack crossed for Regan who was unlucky not to get his second after thundering a shot against the post. But he soon got his rewards when he hit a long shot straight into the top corner and then completed his hat-trick in the last five minutes.

A good display today, against a strong Pewsey team who play good football. ESC looked to be getting back to their best today with some good passing and movement and some excellent finishing. Going through the team, Ryan made a few fantastic saves in the first half and his distribution was good. Michael, making his debut today, did well in defence and was awesome in goal in the second half and Seamus and Harry looked composed at the back. In midfield, Ben, Georgia, Alex and Regan all worked hard, passed well and won the ball back when possession was lost, whilst Jack’s vision upfront was superb today.
