The second of this weekends games saw us entertaining Swindon Rangers at Broad Town School. Again the weather was very cold, but as we all know football is played in all weathers and its good for players (and parents) to sample some of the more testing conditions, as this is what they’ll have to get used to over the coming years.
So onto the game itself and Elite started very brightly going 2 goals up within the first 5 minutes, both scored by Jack P. Then as the first half came to an end we started to tire and this allowed Swindon Rangers to snatch a goal back after a good piece of passing play from them.
Into the second half and after making a few substitutions we soon got back into our stride scoring twice more through Ben and Regan to make the final score 5-1.
Although the score would suggest we played really well I personally thought we’ve played better in recent matches and not got the result. So this proves that we shouldn’t look at results at this age and I am certainly looking more at how the players are developing rather than the score at this early stage. We didn’t really get our passing going at all in this match and this is something we need to keep working on, as this is usually our strongest asset. However on the positive side, we looked very strong and solid today which is something we haven’t looked for a while and although every player on the pitch did extremely well I thought special praise should go to Jack P who had his best game by miles for us today. Not only did he score 3 very well taken goals but his passing and awareness of other players is getting better every week.
Final score: ESCFC 5 v Swindon Rangers 1
