Sunday morning saw ASC travel to Ferndale/Rodbourne on a cold overcast day, We were hoping to carry on where we had left off after our Friendly with Cricklade the other week.
With a full squad available minus defender Andrew E, Captain for the day Lukas done the hand shakes and got the game going.
ASC started extremley brightly with the best performance so far of the season, the passing was crisp, accurate and direct and the platform of Blake and Lukas in defence were very strong, Joe S in goal was largely a spectator as ASC run rampant, James M in Central Midfield was awesome creating passes for the willing Flynn on the right and the lively Joe B on the left, Harry up front was a constant threat throughout the first half and was so unlucky not to score.
Oscar came on for Blake and immediatly got into the spirit of the game with some good touches, Unfortunately as does in football Ferndale had a rare attack, confusion occured in the ASC defence and we went a goal down, it didnt really matter as we were flying.
Unfortunately we had a game of 2 halves and we seemed to run out of energy, the passes and tackles which had driven us on in the first half had gone missing and Joe S in goal was having to make lots of saves, unfortunately even Joes fantastic kicking skills had deserted him.
Football makes no sense sometimes, if we had scored the 2 or 3 we should of had in the first half then im sure it would of been different 2nd half but never mind. The question I was asking myself on the way home was "Are we getting better"? The answer is a most definate yes,
Our day will come, we are on the right road and are becoming a tight knit group, So Well Done Boys!!!
Thanks go to all parents from both sides and to Darren and his assistant from Ferndale for the hospitality and the good mannered and quality football match served up by all.
